Studio
Created by Chris and based in Kingsgate Studios, West Hampstead, the studio is a tranquil and creative space for a community of ceramicists, beginners or skilled. who require a space equipped for throwing, modelling, handbuilding, and glazing.
Tools & Wheels
The studio has 10 wheels. A combination of Fitzwilliam and production wheels.
A range of tools is available to use in the studio, including throwing, handbuilding and carving tools, water buckets, sponges, and paintbrushes.
In addition, the studio contains large work benches, a slab roller, a spray booth, an extruder, a plaster working area and a large collection of books to gather inspiration.
Kiln Firing Service
The studio has five kilns and offers firing services for those that need to complete the final step if you have created work from home. Consultation in advance required.
We can fire ceramics for you at various temperatures from stoneware to porcelain as well as decorated bisque, ceramics decals and lustre. All our kilns are electric kilns. Please contact us in advance to confirm we can help you.
Decoration, Glazes, Slips
The studio has 50 different glazes in different colours and textures. These are all stoneware-fired glazes and created by Chris and Michael (studio technician).
Glaze must be applied correctly before we will fire your piece, and there should be at least a half centimetre clearance around the bottom of each item to prevent pieces sticking together or damage to the kiln shelves from running glazes.
Classes
For beginners and intermediates. These classes will improve your pottery skills and knowledge, eventually preparing you to work independently.
Techniques explored: Centering clay, throwing vessels such as (mugs, bowls, cylinders, Jars and vases), coil building, press moulding, slab building, modelling, sculpture, trimming and glaze application.
Fees: Pieces will be weighed at the leather hard stage, small fee for clay used.
Monday - Thursday:
Full day - 10am- 5pm - £ 65
Half day - 10am-1pm / 2pm-5pm 3 hours - £ 45

Private or corporate classes / studio hire
If you are throwing an event and want to add some pottery fun, you can hire a wheel or many to deliver a unique pottery experience.
We can design a bespoke package according to the duration of the experience and number of guests. We can accommodate up to 10 people
Memberships
The studio is great for intermediate potters who want to make independently and use the studio on flexible terms.
The studio is open Mon-Thurs 10am -5pm.
Glazes are included in the studio membership and a selection of clays are available to buy from the studio. We sell 12.5kg bags of stoneware clays.
Membership from £150 per month and includes electricity.
